    • Hi Jerry!
Thanks for the great response to our work. One of the reasons we’re doing this is to inspire others to go out and experience it them selfs. We sure is glad you we’re inspired… and yes sir, we’ll keep up the work, don’t worry. We got a few more stories for the site but then we need to save some for the upcoming book.

      Sincerely
      /C

Just found your site after googling the Devil’s Backbone Tavern (I’m a Snider fan!)

Any chance there might a book of your photos and writing in existence or incoming?

    • Hej Steve!
Thank’s for asking. A book is on it’s way.
But I’m sorry to say it will take some time. This project has been on the go for about two years and we need some more material. We will be in Texas to work on it from the 18th this month to the 9th of December. We’ll see how far it will take us.

If you haven’t been to the Backbone yet, you must go. An absolute top ten when it comes to Texas Honky-Tonks. Todd’s great too….
      Sincerely

I’ll keep my ears open and eyes peeled for news of the book then.

I’d love to go to the Backbone. Unfortunately that’s quite a road trip from the UK…

This is an absolutely gorgeous impression of honky-tonk history quickly fading throughout the US. From the writings to the photos, I am just in awe and very inspired. You’ve captured the gorgeous decrepitude so perfectly. I would love to see more…

Ps. If you ever make it to Oregon, let me show you our style of honky-tonk.

    • Hi Aly!
Thank you for your response. This is a work in progress and will hopefully turn out as a book. We will start working on it upcoming week but it will take a lot more field work to cover all that is so great with these places.

I’m curios about Oregon Honky-Tonks. What are they like? Do you know if there’s any websites I can check out?

      Sincerely
      /Photographer

Hey guys. Hope you both are staying warm and enlightened! I keep checking back here to see if your most recent visit to Texas is showing up yet. Anxious to see what I missed while you guys were wandering the back roads, old honky tonks and beer joints with my buddy Steve Dean. Looking forward to your next visit. It’s starting to warm up here finally but I know you don’t want to hear me complain about our cold winter here. It’s a joke to yours I know.

Take care and hopefully paths will cross sooner vs. later.

Conny and Olly~ Howdy from Rockne, Texas! Mark and I loved talking to you at Leon’s. There’s always cold beer-and usually a bbq cookoff or live music here- so drop by again when you’re in our neck of the woods (we will be finished with our home and have a guest room for you soon!) Can’t wait to see the pics! Keep in touch and check out my Rockne News column at Smithvilletimes.com
